Be an Instigator.
Do you know something that makes your work miserable and reduces your job satisfaction? It’s time to do something about it. Talk to your manager about how you can eliminate the problem from your job. Perhaps another employee would like the activity or task. You may be able to ask for more responsibilities in your job. To expand your options, knowledge, and options, consider a transfer.
Establish a consistent bedtime routine
Start your day with a great bedtime routine. This will ensure a happy and healthy start to the morning. There is no one right way to do it, but there are some things you can do.
Reset Your Goals
You may have made New Year’s resolutions or set goals for your monthly activities (on paper or in your head). Did you follow through with any of these resolutions? Do you have any that you could get rid of or alter? Are you confident about achieving them all? This week, take some time to reflect on your achievements, consider where you want to go, and perhaps write down the steps that you need to get there.
Do you ever eat lunch at work, skip lunch or eat at home? Make it a habit to get outside every day to grab lunch, either at a sandwich shop or in the park. Stepping out of your office can help you relax from the pressures of work and help you work more effectively.
Make Technology Smarter
She says that we need places where we can’t or won’t check our phones. You can start by establishing a norm that phones are not allowed at dinner, in family time, and during meetings. Also, limit social media and email checking to set times throughout the day. If you work from home and are unable to move to another physical space where you can not check your email or phone alerts, set a time when you will turn them off or stop checking.
Participants aimed to improve their health and lifestyle habits. Participants stressed the importance to have support from their families and being motivated to make changes. Some participants felt the need to have more time for relaxation and activities. It was important to have some downtime and not be completely booked in both work and private life.
Flexibility in your work schedules
If possible, offer a flexible work schedule and allow for some cross-over between personal and professional lives. This could include offering employees the chance to work together or part-time or supporting telecommuting and remote working.
Everyone’s life is complex, and this shows at work. When employees are distracted or absent from work, it can cause disruptions to your business. Stress and distractions can lead to lower productivity, increased turnover, and lower morale for your employees. We all have different definitions of healthy work-life balance. This is not about dividing your time 50/50 between work & leisure. It is about making sure that you are happy and fulfilled in all areas of your life. Work-life refers to the business practice that creates a supportive and flexible environment for employees to maximize their performance.
