Gain Emotional Self-Awareness

As with most things that require sweeping change, EQ Leadership Participants are expected to start with themselves first and foremost. Reaching an understanding of their own emotions grants insight into how they manifest, how they’re best expressed, and what an effect they can have with the world at large. It will also allow participants to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and hopefully foster an effort within our participants to develop positive attitudes such as humility, prudence, and other positive attitudes appropriate for their leadership role.

Exercise Self-Regulation

Continuing with the theme of micro-to-macro, EQ Leadership Participants are then taught how to self-regulate, which means everything from exercising control over their emotions to encouraging certain attitudes over others. They’re taught to study their values to know what they know they can let slide and what they cannot compromise and can possibly lead to conflict in the workplace. Participants are encouraged to have a calmed mind; beneficial to them in the leadership role and great for avoiding or attempting to avoid rash and emotional decision-making.

Motivate themselves and others

Part of the struggle of getting people on your side and preferably to do what you want them to do. That, or motivate your workforce to perform their tasks to the best of their abilities, especially in times of crisis or personal conflict. This goes for both the leader as they’re subject to feeling emotions, and the entirety of the workforce. To help with that, EQ Leadership Training offers a mixed methodology to help with this; from motivational training through imparting the right emotions, to speech training by using things like discourse analysis to breakdown effective motivational speeches and repurpose their elements to construct their own effective speeches, to sound techniques derived from psychological studies.

Develop a sense of empathy

Empathy is how a person can put themselves in another person’s position and then seek out possible solutions for their current predicament. It’s extremely powerful and allows people in more rational states of mind to assist their emotionally impaired peers in overcoming their problems and seeing effective solutions that will at the very least alleviate some of their tensions if not outride start them off in resolving their conflict. To most empathy comes naturally to them and they can perform empathic acts to peers with relative ease. EQ Leadership training however takes into account the fact that for most people empathy is a learned skill, and as a learned skill can be taught; through our instructors and their methods derived from tried and tested studies from relevant fields.

Develop social skills

The leadership role by default necessitates a lot of social interaction with peers, employees, superiors, and clients. It’s a difficult game to play and harder to master as it involves at least an affinity with many things such as workplace culture, local culture, social etiquette, language use, language proficiency, body language, power dynamics, and so many other things that need to be listed. This doesn’t even take into account the many contexts where social interaction can occur; how you’d speak to your superior in say a formal party can be very different from how you do it in office hours, what you can talk to them about and say to them in those settings can be very different from what you can say and do with your co-workers, and so on. EQ Leadership Training incorporates social skills in its training as social interaction and social skills in general can aid participants in identifying important emotional signifiers such as tone of voice and body language, as well as provide a strong test-bed for how to effectively transmit their other learnings to others.
