Why experience can be a good teacher in the workplace

 In Experiential

Why we believe that experience is the best teacher in life.

‘Experience is the best teacher, and the worst experiences teach the best lessons. – Jordan B. Peterson This quote should inspire you to act so you can gain experience and learn so you can live the life you desire. Before you can gain any experience in life or work, you must have experienced failure.

What does experience mean?

Experience can be defined as the acquisition of knowledge or skills through doing, seeing, and feeling things.  Things that happen in your life will teach you more than what you hear or study about other people.

Experience is The Best Teacher: How to Make Successes out of Your Failures

Failure is not something to be ashamed of. You will learn more from your failures than you succeed. You will learn how to move forward faster if you are quick to fall. Failure is not something to be ashamed of. You will learn more from your failures than you succeed. You will learn how to get up faster if you fall more often. The more you fall, the more resilient you will be when you get up.

These are the rules that will help you make success out of your failures.

  1. Fear it not It’s there waiting for you at some time, and fearing it won’t deflect it. Instead, get every ounce of courage you have and say, “If I fail I fail. But I will give it my all.” Fear will only hold you back from doing the best you can at what you do. If you accept fear, you’re actually accepting all the possibilities that it brings.
  2. It is important to learn from it. Do not allow yourself to get lost in the misery of facing a setback or when things aren’t going your way. Instead, examine the reasons it happened. Questions to ask yourself may be: What can you do to improve your approach and avoid repeating the same mistakes? What did others do? This is it a learning opportunity or a failure disguised as failure? You are your best teacher, so make the most of it.
  3. Own your mistakes. Own your failure. You have the advantage. You are taking full responsibility for the consequences and preparing yourself to learn from them. If you have the courage to do so, you will be able to objectively assess what went wrong and where it happened. This is a great thing. Failure is an opportunity to learn.
  4. Do not get personal. This is your life. This is business. Everyone is working hard, everyone is falling, and everyone is winning. You are part of the rat-race, and will need to experience its ups and downs. This is work, but it is not you. You are the person who is greater than this failure and better than this error. Be the best version of yourself and reach your full potential. When should things get personal? Never. Do not get attached to emotions. This will bring down your spirit and cause you to lose your faith. Keep your head up and take everything in stride.

Important Lessons You Only Can Learn From Experience

1. The purpose of meaning

Friedrich Nietzsche: “He who has a reason to live for can bear almost every how.”

Even though we may have a great degree and choose a career that is rewarding, it can still leave us feeling unfulfilled. This is when we realise the importance of finding meaning in our lives beyond a job or education.

2. How to be an independent person

“To find yourself,” Socrates says. We are taught to be independent and take care of our bodies. We are no longer guided by our parents or teachers. It’s us against the world.

3. Time is not something we can control.

You can have it all. But not all at once. We can’t do anything if it isn’t our time yet.

4. How to get over failure

In school, it was easy for us to learn from our mistakes and study harder the next time. But in life, we can be scarred or change our perspective about life. Failure is part of life, and success can only be achieved after many failures. Failure is part of the journey. We learn to accept it and move on.

5. How to be patient.

“Patience is bitter but its fruit is delicious.” -Aristotle. If time is not something we can control, we need to be patient and wait for what we want. We don’t have to follow a timeline in life. Instead, we need to be patient and believe that what we want will arrive when we are ready.

6. All of us need love.

“Really being loved by someone gives strength. Loving someone deeply gives courage. “Lao Tzu This is not the puppy love or high school love. We need real love. The kind that is expressed in the support of others and the kindness that lifts our lives.

7. It is hard to live.

Once we understand that life is hard, once we have come to terms with it, then life becomes easy. It doesn’t matter if it is accepted. We learn as we get older that life isn’t always easy. However, it won’t be like a semester of hard work that is permanent and we won’t have to worry about it ever again. As your responsibilities increase, it can get more difficult. We learn to accept the challenges of life and to be patient.

We learn from our mistakes and choose how to live with them. We can accept our mistakes and use them to improve ourselves.
